A Top company - serving Doylestown, PA

Meet the Team - Top Hat Chimney

Every visit starts with

Level 1 sweep and inspection to the NFPA 211 annual standard - flue, crown, cap, and flashing checked and photographed

Worth knowing

Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.

Meet the Doylestown Team Behind Top Hat Chimney

Top Hat Chimney has been running out of Doylestown since 1999, and the crew you’ll see pull up in the truck isn’t a rotating cast. These are the people who work this county every week, know which chimneys on which streets need extra attention after a wet spring, and answer the phone when you call. Wendell Pike built the company by hiring people he’d trust to walk into his own mother’s house, and that hasn’t changed in over 29 years. You’re getting our people, not somebody else’s subcontractors.

Our People

Wendell Pike, Owner

Wendell started Top Hat Chimney in 1999 with one truck, a set of brushes, and a two-page list of local homeowners who’d said they’d give him a shot if he ever went out on his own. He’s the guy who still answers the phone when he’s not on a roof, and the one who put the 90-Day Done Right Promise in writing because he got tired of watching fly-by-night outfits disappear after a botched liner job. Wendell will tell you straight up if your chimney doesn’t need anything. He’ll also tell you, with receipts, why that hairline crack in your crown is worth fixing now while it’s still a $300 problem.

Marcus T., Lead Technician

Marcus has been with Top Hat for fourteen years, longer than any other crew member, and there isn’t a creosote condition in Bucks County he hasn’t seen up close. He’s certified in HeatShield and DuraFlex liner installation and handles the rebuilds that scare off less experienced sweeps. Marcus is the one who documents every job with a camera probe and walks you through the footage in plain English before quoting anything. Rumor is he can smell a third-degree glaze from the driveway.

Danielle R., Service Coordinator

Danielle joined Top Hat eight years ago and runs the schedule, which means she’s the voice you’ll most likely hear when you call to book. She knows the service map inside out, which keeps the no-trip-charge promise honest and makes sure someone arrives when they say they will. Danielle keeps a running list of which local streets tend to have cap damage after heavy wind, and she’ll flag it when she books your visit. If the schedule shifts for any reason, she calls you. No voicemail games.

Kevin B., Apprentice

Kevin came to Top Hat after two summers of hauling equipment and learning on the ground, and he’s now in his second full year of training under Marcus. He’s already taken on crown sealing and cap replacements, and he’s the first one up the ladder on the mornings nobody else wants. Kevin grew up in the area and knows the difference between a chimney that looks dirty and one that’s actually dangerous. He’s the reason we don’t cut corners when Wendell isn’t watching, because Wendell is always watching, and Kevin knows it.

One Standard, Every Job

The four of us run by one rule: the chimney gets treated like it belongs to somebody on this crew. That means the same camera inspection on a $179 sweep as on a $4,000 rebuild, the same upfront price before tools come off the truck, and the same 90-Day Done Right Promise stamped on every invoice, signed by Wendell. We answer the phone around the clock because chimneys don’t only act up during business hours, and when you call, you get Danielle or Wendell, not a call center. Every crew member is background-checked and shows up in a uniform with a real arrival window. If the work isn’t right, one call brings the same crew back. That’s the whole deal, and it’s been the deal in Doylestown since 1999.
